Why Zoogma?
Zeugma (ancient Greek Ζεῦγμα: ‘bridgehead’ or ‘crossing place’). A zeugma pontoon bridge is a system of many small vessels lashed together to form a stable bridge. In the same way, Zoogma helps many individual verifiable credential vessels form an identity system more resilient than a monolithic centralized system.
Zoogma has its genesis in the XATP Working Group and similar efforts to drive interoperability and better patient outcomes in compliance with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA).
Proposal & Reference Implementation
Zoogma is a long-term effort to chart the path of a Verifiable Credential (VC) standard for Authorized Trading Partners (ATPs), starting with a complete, fully transparent, open-source reference implementation that satisfies the requirement for interoperability across all ATP types.
While healthcare is an enormously diverse and complex ecosystem, the secure and interoperable management of identity and private data is a common challenge. Much as a driver’s license has become a standard form of physical identification outside its original use case, so a VC schema grounded in the ATP community would address a stipulated need within the US pharmaceutical supply chain.
This begins with the definition of a global ATP schema and development of a reference implementation, which will be entirely open source and include protocols for revocation.
Our Vision
We believe that better information can add five quality years to the lives of billions of people.
We aim for a future in which the VC schema developed for ATPs could be seamlessly extended to other open-source credentials to serve patients, caregivers, and all participants in the healthcare system.
